Researching Puerto Rico

Since we decided not to move to Belize, I’m looking into other options. Puerto Rico is affordable right now, but will it be in 4-5 years when my husband retires? We hope to take a vacation there and scope it out to see if we would like it. We would rent a car and go see the whole island. The temps are 70-85 degrees year round. How nice is that!? My best friend and my son want to go on this vacation with us. That would be super fun! It’s easy to bring our 2 small dogs, which is a relief. Not on vacation, but if we move there. The only thing I worry about are the scorpions, centipedes and all the spiders…..I don’t want them biting my dogs and I’m terrified of spiders.
But, I’m still doing research……

UPDATE ON BELIZE

Well, after doing a lot of research and listening to people who have made the move, I’ve decided it is not the place for us. I don’t think we will fit in there. I’m kinda bummed out about it, but I would have been feeling worse if we made the move and then didn’t like it. So, now I’m looking at other places. Hawaii is my favorite place but it’s so expensive. I used to live there and even had both my children there…..I just love it. I’m hoping to plan a trip to Maui, but it might be awhile. But, I’ve been looking at the US Virgin Islands, but they are expensive as well. Where else is there where there is warm tropical weather year round? I’m afraid to live in Mexico…..but I haven’t done any research for there yet. Florida gets too hot in the summers. I don’t know…….

Belize?

We are seriously thinking of retiring in the country of Belize. It’s affordable and has the climate that makes my mind and body happy. I bought 3 books and a map of it. 2 books are the ins and outs of relocating there and the other book is a bucket list. I just got everything today so I didn’t get much reading in yet. We met with a financial advisor last week and now know what our retirement income will be, which helps a lot for searching for homes in Belize. We don’t want to live in an apartment or a house with stairs. We think we want to rent instead of buy, but that might still be up in the air. My book explains the pros and cons for each but I haven’t gotten that far yet. The ocean means a lot to me spiritually too. I feel at peace, in every way. It’s a great feeling. I say, if we can do it, then why not? My husband could fish a lot, and myself too….let the climate heal me. I have a nasty cough, fibro and A LOT of arthritis and trouble sleeping. When we were in Florida, I did not cough, I slept fabulous , and my body barely hurt except my really bad knee. So, the climate is healing for me and not being in so much pain every day would be most welcome. It would be neat to live by a canal or river, which they have both. We will have to buy a golf cart. That’s how a lot of folks get around.

If you could do it, would you move to Belize?

Back From Vacation

We had a wonderful time on vacation! It was fishing every single day except the 3 days we spent at the beach. Husband was the fisherman of the week! He was totally in his element and now we are looking to purchase a boat, lol…..I shopped a lot, mostly for my friends. But I did get a few things too. We ate really good while at the beach and our dinner tickets reflected such! Our next big vacation will, hopefully, be to Belize. I’m very interested in that location. I’m a lover of nice weather. I’m so over the cold and snow! In October we are going to Arizona for 8 nights to visit daughter and family. That will be fun too. Of course, Arizona in the summer is even way too hot for me. Arizona won’t be our retirement destination. I Ike humid heat. I absolutely loved living in Hawaii. It’s been my favorite place in the US, and still is……

I hope you are all well and those of you who are cold, spring is on the way. Namaste my dear readers

VACATION

We leave on a 10 day vacation on Saturday morning. The weather will be nice and warm, I’m so excited! We will be staying 3 nights in a beachfront hotel and the rest of the time with a friend. I can’t wait to make a scrapbook of this trip! I hope I get lots of great pics!

I hope this year is treating you all well.

Happy New Year, 2026!

I hope to make this year amazing! We have 2 trips this year. Florida to visit a friend in march, then to Arizona to visit my daughter and family in October.

Our new bed was delivered a couple of days ago, but my husband has work to do in the bedroom before we can put it up. We got the split king with adjustable bases. We will each have a controller so we can move our bed separately. He can lay flat, while I’m inclined and so on. I ordered a new comforter and 3 sets of sheets. Those came yesterday.

Do you have resolutions this year? I don’t, generally, make resolutions……like I said, I just want to make this year amazing.

Right now I’m in a lot of pain. It’s my right knee. The first diagnosis was just arthritis. Then I went in yesterday to see my primary and she said I also have a sprained ligament. I have to go to physical therapy for a month. She also gave me some pain pills and they don’t even take the edge off. Ugh!

My new huge crystal necklace has shipped. I’m so excited to get it. I’m going to wear it every day in Florida. I hope it’s a powerful one. I believe in crystals having power…..to heal, to keep negative energy away, and other things. It’s a clear quartz.

Happy New Year! May this new year bring you much happiness and peace. Love, love, love.
